At 11 Plus Prep School, James leads tuition in English, Creative Writing, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning for the 11 Plus exams.
With a Master’s degree in Information Science (UCL) and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (University of London), James combines academic expertise with a deep understanding of how children learn most effectively.
A specialist in 11+ grammar school and independent school exams, James has guided numerous students to secure places at leading grammar schools - including St Olave’s and Newstead Wood - as well as top independent schools across the UK. Through expert tuition and personalised consultancy, he helps students develop strong subject knowledge, master exam techniques, and build confidence., while supporting families throughout every stage of the preparation process.

Maxine - Co-Founder & Director of Learning
(11+ Mathematics Specialist)
At 11 Plus Prep School, Maxine leads tuition in Mathematics — including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data handling, and word problems — and Non-Verbal Reasoning for the 11 Plus exams, helping students strenthen problem-solving skills and confidence.
With a Master’s in Journalism (University of London) and a Bachelor’s in English (Zhejiang University), Maxine combines academic expertise with years of experience helping children master complex concepts with clarity and structure. Her organised approach builds strong results in 11+ exams and equips students with effective study habits.
Maxine has successfully supported students both locally and internationally, guiding many to places at top grammar and independent schools. Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, Maxine is known for her clear explanations, patience, and engaging approach, helping students build confidence and succeed.
Online Lessons
Our specialist 11+ tutors lead structured, engaging Zoom lessons with professionalism and warmth. Each interactive session uses slides, quizzes, and collaborative tasks to help children learn more efficiently and make faster progress — all from the comfort of your home.
Homework
We assign weekly homework that is purposeful and level-appropriate, designed by our team of experienced professionals. It reinforces learning, builds independence, and provides regular practice with expert guidance always available when needed.
Assessment
Every half term, your child will complete a targeted assessment paper to track their progress. These assessments are reviewed by specialists, helping us refine their learning plan and giving you clear, practical feedback and guidance at each stage.
Extra Support
