Who is Quest, the new Bexley test provider?

From 2026 onwards, the Bexley 11+ selection test has moved away from using GL Assessment as the test provider and instead adopted Quest Assessments for its entrance assessments. This is a significant development for families in Bexley, Greenwich, and neighbouring areas preparing for grammar school entry exams — so it’s worth understanding who Quest is and what this change means for your child.

What Is Quest Assessments?

Quest Assessments is an independent UK‑based exam provider that specialises in custom entry assessments for schools.

Where Else Is Quest Used?

Before being adopted for Bexley, Quest was already widely used by independent and selective schools across the UK and internationally:

  • It is used by UK independent schools for bespoke entry tests, including adaptive online assessments that cover a range of subjects and thinking skills.

  • According to independent preparatory resources, around 150+ selective independent schools use Quest Admissions assessments as part of their entrance process.

Examples include online adaptive exams for schools such as Uppingham, Chigwell and others — although free familiarisation tests for those are often provided by third‑party prep sites rather than Quest itself.

Sample & Familiarisation Materials

To help children feel confident and familiar with the style of questions used in Quest assessments, Quest publishes familiarisation materials that give a feel for the format and response style. These aren’t full past papers (as Quest tests are bespoke to each school/authority), but they are helpful practice:

These materials cover typical question formats and how to fill in answer sheets, helping children understand the presentation style before test day.

Preparing for the New Bexley Test

Because the provider has changed, specific question style and timing might feel different from previous GL tests — but the underlying skills being assessed are similar to those seen in other 11+ formats. Solid grounding in:

  • Maths fundamentals

  • English comprehension and vocabulary

  • Verbal and non‑verbal reasoning

  • Timed practice and exam technique

will transfer effectively to Quest‑style questions.

Quest’s own familiarisation materials are a good starting point, but we also recommend practice that builds confidence in diverse question types and pacing.
